When the webapp fires off a API request to search or update etc, that request is asynchronous.

However there's no indication of this, so the gap between clicking "go" and the data updating on the screen isn't explained visually.

Build something that shades the screen and displays some kind of spinning widget. Turn it on when firing off an asynchronous api request, turn it off when the request completes.
